Firefighters from Broughton Station helped a pigeon to safety in Central Milton Keynes at the weekend.

The bird – pictured with watch commander Andy Vernon – had been stuck on a canopy over an entrance to offices since flying into a window several days earlier.

A spokemsan for Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue said: “People often ask us why we respond to these calls. There are two main reasons: No-one likes to see a living creature suffering, and there is always a danger that a well-meaning member of the public will hurt themselves if they attempt to sort it out without proper equipment.”
